Hi, I’m Amanda, the nose and hands behind Indigo Ray.
I’ve always been an artist. Fragrance just became another medium.
I think of scent the way I think about a photograph, a song, or a piece of art — something capable of taking you somewhere before you’ve even realized you’ve left. A certain smell can bring back a person, a place, an entire version of yourself. There’s something a little otherworldly about that, and it’s what I love most about making perfume.
Indigo Ray was born from that same connection to memory and spirit.
Indigo was inspired by growing up alongside the Pacific Ocean in Los Angeles — something that shaped me deeply and still finds its way into so much of what I create.
Ray is the middle name of my uncle and guardian angel. He has continued to show up for me in ways I can’t always explain, even in spirit. Carrying his name with this work felt like a way of keeping a little piece of him close.
So, Indigo Ray is a little bit of where I come from and a little bit of who I carry with me.
Today, I make every fragrance in small batches from my home studio in Portland, Oregon. Each one begins with a feeling, a memory, a place, a song — sometimes all of them at once. I’m less interested in making perfume that simply smells good than I am in making something that makes you feel something.
Indigo Ray has never been about fitting into a particular version of beauty or belonging to the right crowd. There’s no cool-kid prerequisite here. No right way to dress, look, live, or wear fragrance. I wanted to create the kind of world I was always searching for myself — one where you can just show up as you are.
Thank you for letting my art live on your skin, in your homes, and eventually, in your memories. It means more to me than you probably know.

A few things you might be wondering
Are your fragrances safe for sensitive skin?
Every Indigo Ray fragrance is carefully formulated and tested before it makes its way to you. That said, fragrance is personal and sensitivities can vary. Full ingredient information is provided for each product, and if you know you’re sensitive to fragrance or a particular ingredient, I always recommend patch testing first.
Are your fragrances vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes. Indigo Ray fragrances are vegan and never tested on animals. Ingredients are thoughtfully sourced, and if the availability or sourcing of a material changes, I’ll reformulate when appropriate rather than compromise the product.
How should I store my perfume?
Fragrance likes things cool, dark, and boring. Keep your perfume away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, and big temperature swings. Stored properly, your fragrance can stay beautiful for years. Natural materials can also evolve slightly over time — that’s normal and part of working with them.
How long does shipping take?
Indigo Ray is a very small operation, and every order is packed by hand. Please allow 8–10 business days for your order to be processed and shipped, particularly during launches, restocks, and sales.
